I Knew Kids Were Creepy...

Swamp Thing #3

As much as I hate this Grindhouse crap, I like the retro-grind vibe of the cover and the tagline. The story goes further into the plan of Sethe as well as bringing back Abigail Arcane from past continuity. I don't really know much of the history, but it seems to be folded in and part of this new universe and I still dig it. If you ever thought fish mounted on the wall were creepy (and that singing bass extra creepy) Snyder feels your pain. Sethe is working on harnessing some chosen child and speaks to him through dead fish on the wall, before the kid internally insta-gibs everyone. Goddamn kids.

Detective Comics #3

I'm still a wee disappointed in this series but I guess I had insanely high hopes. The Dollmaker's modus operandi is elaborated upon, there's a totally-called-it twist, and movement towards a final confrontation between Comm. Gordon and his past sins, which all over makes it feel less about Batman than the other series (Batman). Still, he is The Goddamn Batman. There was so much actual dialogue in this one that it made the issue of Swamp Thing I read after feel incredibly short. Also, more creepy kids and a rather unique family.
